Carrot Pineapple and Turmeric Smoothie

Contrary to popular belief, clear beautiful skin comes from within. Sure you can buy tons of products to clear up your skin on the surface, but you gotta start from the inside. Water is essential to the body and does great for the your skin, but lets be honest most of us don’t get enough of it. So this is where what you eat and drink really matters and effects your skin. Fresh fruits and vegetables will get you well on your way to clear skin, the more of it in your diet the better.

In addition to water, green tea is great for clear skin since it contains polyphenols and antioxidants that boost blood flow and oxygen to the skin. Spices such as cinnamon, cayenne, ginger and turmeric are perfect for clear skin since they increases blood flow and circulation, fight free radicals, helps with inflammation  and provide a glowing look. The easiest way to get some of these ingredients in  is to incorporate it in a smoothie, juice or tea.On the days where I want glowing  skin, I reach for carrots for their beta-carotene goodness.  Carrots aren’t the only vegetable that contains beta- carotene, but carrots is a rich source for it. They are also the easiest to find in any store and usually reasonably priced year round. So making tons of smoothies and juices is relatively easy on the pockets, if you’re using it to clear up your skin the natural way.  Beta-Carotene is considered an antioxidant and when consumed it converts into Vitamin A, which repairs and helps to protect skin against the damaging effects of the sun.

Check out my favorite carrot smoothie recipe below that can also be juiced in a juicer. Swap out the fruits to your liking but keep 50% of the smoothie or juice carrots. I can’t guarantee that you’ll have clear glowing skin by tomorrow drinking this, but if consumed often with a healthy diet you are well on your way. Remember: Beauty starts in the kitchen.
