Berry Beet Oat Smoothie

Its the start of a new year, so most of us probably have a few resolutions that we plan to work on throughout the year. Whether its saving more money, eating healthier or even traveling more. Resolutions are often a good thing, but most of us tend to fall off in a couple days or even weeks. I personally didn’t make any resolutions this year because, I feel that my “resolutions” are lifelong and not yearly. I want to live a long healthy life, so I make the decision to make healthier choices everyday to get closer to that goal. Don’t get me wrong,  on occasion I do chose pizza over a smoothie or even fries over kale. I try at least 75% of the time to maintain my goal. That also goes for all my other lifelong goals in life,  take it one day at a time and if you fall off try again tomorrow.

If one of your resolutions for the new year is clean eating, then you are in luck. Oatmeal smoothies are a great way to get your veggies, fruits and fiber all in one sitting. They are great for lowering cholesterol, stabilizing blood sugar and a great source of soluble fiber and satisfying hunger. This smoothie is great for breakfast or anytime of the day when you’re looking for a nice little pick me-up. You can boost the protein content with protein powder, yogurt, kefir or even nuts or seeds. The add-ins are endless, just stick to one ingredient type foods and you’re on your way to healthier clean eating. Check out the recipe below:
