Its Thanksgiving, and just about everyone is getting ready for a big feast to share with family and friends. I myself just finished making my famous herb stuffing for tonight’s festivities. With that being said, this year I decided that I wanted to do a detox while on this 4 day break. Don’t get me wrong I will be partaking in the Thanksgiving activities, but I will be detoxing throughout the rest of the weekend. My version of a detox isn’t going cold turkey (no pun intended) on specific foods but its slowly putting more alkalizing greens and fruits in. Yes, you can probably work in your left overs in between this detox but eventually doing a couple days solely eating fruits and veggies can really make a difference.
I’m all about keeping things on a budget so I will be keeping things easy and affordable. I narrowed down my choices of possible smoothie recipes and will stick with it for the duration of the detox. Doing this makes it easy to buy my produce in bulk, but it also helps me to make the smoothies in big batches. The smoothie I chose to do this week is a kale smoothie filled with fruits that are know for their fiber content and alkalizing properties, but the most important ingredients is the Moringa. Moringa is is best known as an excellent source of nutrition and natural energy booster. Moringa also contains 18 of the 20 amino acids required by the human body including all eight of the essential amino acids found in meat products. The leaves are rich in many important nutrients, including protein, vitamin B6, vitamin C, riboflavin and iron. To say the least, Moringa is a great staple to have in your daily food consumption. You can find Moringa tea, capsule and powder form in just about any health food store or online. I personally prefer the powder form and use it on everything from smoothies, teas and drinks.
This 3 day detox will be filled with big batches of smoothies, salads, herbal detox teas and infused water. The main idea is eating clean and eating whole. Your body will love you for it . Check out the recipes and the plan below:

You can drink the Infused Water and Detox Teas throughout the day but definitely drink the smoothies till you’re full. Everyone is different so a set amount of smoothies or salads might not work for everyone. A 34 ounce smoothie might carry you till lunch but for some it might not. Listen to your body, eat when you’re hungry and stop when you’re not.
Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours!
