It’s my favorite time of the year, Fall! And with the start of fall means all things pumpkin and pumpkin spice. Though there’s not much of a weather difference in south Florida yet it doesn’t mean that I have to wait on the seasonal flavors of the season. So to spice things up a bit but to also keep things cool, my mornings have been a mix of my favorite Coconut Yogurt Kefir Chia Pudding with a quick pumpkin-spiced apple topping that is great as is or warmed.

Juneteenth (a merge of the words/date June Nineteenth) marks the date in 1865 that the last enslaved people learned of their freedom. And for over 150 years since, Black American families, home-cooks, chefs, and culinarians have commemorated the summer holiday with a wide range of food traditions that tell a story of the perseverance of a people.
