Summer Fruit, Nuts and Muesli Toast Charcuterie board with Brown Butter Langostino Lobster Rolls

Is it me? Or does it seem like the summer months are zooming by? It literally feels like its still March, at least in my mind it does. But it’s mid-July and that means in another month or so we will be in Fall.  So this past weekend I decided to throw my annual but not so annual backyard picnic for me and my family. Backyard picnics mean charcuterie board to me so I definitely knew that Continue Reading…

Lemon Pepper Spicy Honey Butter Cauliflower Wings

I’ve been craving cauliflower wings for some time now and with this quarantine and social distancing happening, going out to a restaurant is the last thing I want to do. So after a recent trip to Trader Joes for my favorite seasonings ( 21 seasoning salute and onion salt) and produce, I decided to make my own. Juneteenth-Cookout-Takeover-Banner

This year Forksandstraws.com is participating in the 2020 Juneteenth Cookout Takeover! This initiative was established to encourage the celebration of Juneteenth and to amplify the food traditions of black culinary creatives.

Juneteenth (a merge of the words/date June Nineteenth) marks the date in 1865 that the last enslaved people learned of their freedom. And for over 150 years since, Black American families, home-cooks, chefs, and culinarians have commemorated the summer holiday with a wide range of food traditions that tell a story of the perseverance of a people.

To celebrate, Black Food Bloggers from around the country have come together to have a virtual cookout sharing our favorites recipes that highlights our food traditions and those of the African Diaspora. Continue Reading…

Summer Picnic: Cheese and Fruit Charcuterie board

Summer is officially over! And to commemorate the start of Fall my sister and I threw a backyard summer picnic. I’ve been wanting to do a picnic for some time now but Florida’s weather is very unpredictable. The weather was said to be a rain fest all weekend so when the sun held up for a few hours we prepped for a mini-picnic in less Continue Reading…

Broccoli Soup with Tomato, Peppers, and Shrimp Confit

Living in South Florida we don’t really get winters, but on the random days we do: we go all out. Coats, boots, stockings, scarves, heaters and hot cocoa all come out the wood-work when the temperature drops. Keeping warm is the ultimate goal but there’s only so much hot cocoa a girl can drink.  So as of late, I’ve been making soup,  and I’ll be the first to tell you Continue Reading…
