Every now and then I like to go back to the basics and switch things up. When I first started on this whole foods journey, oatmeal and green smoothies were a main staple for me. Depending on the type of smoothie I was making, I had a base of a few ingredients guaranteed to make the smoothie taste great regardless of the actual add-ins. So this morning I was feeling a bit adventurous and decided to incorporate 2 new add-ins to my oat smoothie: Cardamon and Collagen protein.
Cardamon is a spice that I have not used before but I think its safe to say that the flavor is a combo of ginger and nutmeg with a minty aftertaste. It’s very flavorful and overpowering so a little bit goes a long way especially if you’re not a fan of Chai. FYI: I’m not a fan of Chai but for some reason this smoothie has me reconsidering that. Cardamon provides tons of benefits but like most spices its great for detoxing and digestion. Something that I believe is highly important for your everyday health. Coincidently collagen protein provides the same type of benefits along with a substantial amount of protein to keep you going. Its great for hair, skin and nails, joints, digestion, detoxing and much more. There are many types of collagen so I recommend that you do the research and based on your needs pick the best that works for you. I personally have tried multiple collagen proteins and haven’t really stuck to one but I can say I have seen a difference as far as my joints and skin when taken regularly. Also the frothiness that it gives this smoothie is out of this world! 10 out of 10. Check out the recipe below:
